For plains game species we recommend calibres such as: 7mm, 30-06, 8x57, 300WM or similar.

For any of the dangerous game species, the minimum calibre according to law is a .375.

We recommend using premium ammunition as most of our animals are thick skinned animals with heavy bone structures. 

Variable optics such as 3-9 or 4-12 are recommended as shot distances can greatly vary depending on the terrain where you are hunting.

For bird hunting we recommend a 12-gauge shotgun. We will advise you on the ammunition needed according to the species you wish to hunt, alternatively we can supply the ammunition to you at an additional cost.

To assist with the import of your firearm, we recommend the services of Rifle Permits. They work hand-in-hand with the South African Police Service (SAPS) to provide permits for your firearms before you arrive in South Africa. They will also meet you at the airport to assist you with the clearance process.
